After submitting your Sassa SRD grant application, you might want to check the status of your application. But you might find that your R350 grant status is ‘reapplication pending’, here’s what you can do about that status.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has given its Special Relief of Distress (SRD) grant beneficiaries an answer to their many questions regarding the ‘Reapplication Pending’ SRD application status.
This simply means that there was no application or reapplication received by the agency.
What should you do when you have received the ‘Reapplication Pending’ status?
You will then need to submit your R350 grant application using the SRD website.
Go to the Sassa SRD website to apply online
Enter your mobile number
Click “Send SMS”
Then enter the one time pin (OTP) that Sassa has sent to the number
Continue the application process by filling in the steps required
In order to access or to have the application reconsidered for the Social Relief of Distress Grant, an applicant must grant consent for Sassa to verify his or her identity, residency, income, or social security benefits.
Applicants are urged to accept the declaration and consent as well.
Sassa also advises people to only submit one application instead of multiple applications. Once your application has been successfully submitted, confirmation will be sent to you.
Certain Covid-19 SRD grant applications received an ‘Identity Verification Failed’ status, here is what it means.
Before the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) approves Covid-19 SRD grant applications, the applicant’s details are verified with the Department of Home Affairs.
If the applicant receives an ‘Identity Verification Failed’ status it means that Sassa found that the applicant’s details did not match with the Department of Home Affairs data.
The agency processes applicants’ details through several different databases when considering their applications. First, the applicant’s name, surname and ID number are run through the Department of Home Affairs.
Those who wish to have their application reconsidered as they believe that they were unfairly declined, may appeal the decision. Sassa will then need to reconsider the Covid-19 SRD grant application.
The appeal needs to be lodged on the Sassa website within 30 days of when they received a rejection status.
